Attic Applications

Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulation can be used
in two common ways to insulate your attic space
and protect your home from inclement weather
and moisture related damages – Vented and
Non-Vented Attic spaces. In a Vented attic, insulation
is used on the attic floor to insulate the living
space from seasonal heat and/or cold.
Spray foam is used where traditional insulation
would be; between the floor joists. The rest of
the attic (ie: the roof assembly) is left un-insulated
and ventilation is incorporated into the gable,
soffit, and ridge vents throughout the roof structure.
In a Non-Vented attic, insulation is applied directly
to the underside of the roof sheathing to
insulate the entire attic from seasonal heat and/
or cold. Spray foam is installed between the roof
rafters, along the soffit areas and directly to all
exterior surfaces such as gable walls, dormers,
etc., to produce an air tight building envelope.

Benefits of the Eco Home Rigid Foam Roofing System

Better air quality

There are no noxious or odious fumes or vapours in the cured foam. Spray-applied foam is especially recommended for those suffering from allergies, asthma, or other respiratory problems. It contains no formaldehyde and has no detectable emissions once cured. It contains no fibres and does not shrink, sag, settle, slip or turn to dust. It offers no food value to bacteria, fungus, insects or vermin. Humidity and condensation are better controlled so that the health concerns with regard to mould or mildew are relieved. Find out more why you should consider our foam insulation rather than the fibreglass.

Stabilisation and insulation of existing dwellings

Dependent on your homes requirements, we can offer various solutions for your foam insulation. Because it is liquid when it is applied, it seeks and seals any unwanted air leakage that may occur, preventing the ingress of wind-driven rain, snow and dust and dramatically reducing heat loss. By installing the insulation at rafter level it keeps the loft void warmer and prevents condensation build-up which can otherwise occur when increasing insulation at ceiling level. The warmer, drier, cleaner roof space eliminates the risk of pipes and tanks freezing. The water vapour resistance of the spray applied foam, is sufficient to prevent interstitial condensation but allows the battens, which are covered on three sides by the foam, to ‘breathe’ and by preventing wind-blown rain and snow, the battens stay dry. The spray applied foam used in lofts meets Class 1 Surface Spread of Flame when tested to BS 476 Part 7: 1997.

Condensation control, Air leakage, Breathable formula

Eco Home Spray Foam Insulation meets the Building Regulations in respect of condensation control by compliance with the Approved Document F ‘Alternative Approach’ for non-ventilated roofs. Calculations are made using the method in BSEN ISO 13788:2002 (and BS 5250 Appendix D): Code

Mr & Mrs Armstrong, Dorset
There were a few problems initially when it was realised that our property would need re-tiling before installation of the solar panelling would take place. Once those were overcome the work was carried out well and I would have no hesitations recommending your company and the others involved.
